Van Gogh and the Olive Groves
Van Gogh and the Olive Groves – The ambience of the South of France had a massive impression on Van Gogh. The light and the colours were always changing and Vincent loved to paint these scenes and landscapes. This Spring, the new exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam looks at the artist’s love of the olive trees. It specifically looks at the way he adopted new painting techniques and a much wider colour palette. He was at an asylum at the time and suffered greatly with his mental health. He still painted and produced some wonderful masterpieces. Now for the first time lots of his paintings of olive trees are reunited under one roof.
