Survival in the afterlife

Survival in the afterlife – this is Lydia Ourahmane’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands. It takes place at the fabulous exhibition space in De Appel. The artist has compiled a vast collection of documents, moving images, and stories passed on my mouth about the civil war in Algeria. Together, they tell the story of her family during these difficult times. She records survival in the context of a brutal war. It looks at society, faith, geography and politics.
