Dutchman

Dutchman is a play by the Orange Theatre Company in English. It premiered in 1964 and is about how racism effects our daily lives. Imagine how that viewers reacted in the USA in the mid 60’s. In the play, a middle class black man, Clay, meets a seductive white lady, Lula in a NYC subway car. There is an attraction that can have dangerous consequences. Dutchman will take its audience on a provocative, startling journey. It examines the chronic racism deeply woven into American society and forces its audience to look at ourselves, our society, and how racism has impacted our daily lives.
